How long do the talks last?
I can deliver a bespoke talk lasting between 20 minutes and 1 hour, working with a client on the specific content.
Do you have an example of the talks you can deliver?
The neurodiversity awareness content I deliver combines educational content combined with insight to how a neurodivergent person may think differently. I use my much of my own learning from learning to navigate the world with my own autism and ADHD.
The first version I can deliver primarily focuses on ‘What is Neurodiversity’. This aims to give a broad understanding of what Neurodiversity I, and how it can affect people. I give insight to the inner workings of a neurodiverse brain using my own experiences.
The second version tells the story of discovering what it means to be Neurodiverse; particularly ‘the journey’ to be able to embrace both the strengths and challenges that come from being a diverse thinker. It is very common to have a viewpoint focusing on the challenges of being neurodivergent, in the workplace this may be due the need to identify any required accommodations. As a person with ADHD it may also be due to a strong fear of failure which can cause a disproportionate view of your true skills. I talk about the need to embrace strengths and challenges alike and finding the ‘balance’ which is important to truly thrive.

Workforce Digital Transformation Summit 2024
I was invited to speak at the 2024 Workforce digital transformation summit, organised by Giraffe above held in Amsterdam. (https://workforce-transformation.digital/may2024)
The talk was titled “How can we drive diversity to unleash innovation?”.
I introduced the topic of Neurodiversity and why it is important to foster diversity of thought in the workplace, and why supporting neurodiversity is important when creating successful teams. To bring the story to life I used examples of my own journey growing up in a small village in Devon, and navigating university and the daunting initial years as a professional engineer. Prior to discovering he was autistic in 2009, a discovery which brought into focus so many of the challenges I had faced during those times. I highlighted the need for support of company initiatives at a senior level. This was followed by insights gained establishing the neurodiversity network at Dyson, and how neurodiversity can be supported from the ground up, often without the need for costly solutions.
